The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program is a 12-month clinical traineeship, emphasizing the development of geriatric medicine academicians which provides a launching point for careers in administration and practice-based careers.
The Palliative Care Fellowship Program is offered in one, two, or three year experiences with a broad curriculum and educational sites including home hospice, ambulatory Supportive and Palliative Care clinics, HIV/AIDS treatment clinics, inpatient palliative care units at UAB and Birmingham VA Medical Center, etc.
Palliative Care NP Program
The Geriatric Education Program offers multidisciplinary academic courses in Gerontology to both undergraduate and graduate students. The program objective is to provide a strong academic background in diverse disciplines and to integrate research, theory and practice to prepare students for leadership roles in this field.
The Seminar Series occurs each Friday at noon from September through June and disseminates information about a broad range of aging research topics, provides internal and external presenters an opportunity to receive feedback on their research, fosters interdisciplinary collaborations among investigators at UAB, and is a venue in which potential faculty recruits can present their aging research.
The Geriatric Medicine Clinical Conference occurs each Thursday at noon from September through June and this interdisciplinary conference focuses on practical issues relevant to the interdisciplinary health care needs of older adults.
